The Founder

Robokids was founded In 2009 in Richmond by Jason Zhang, who advocated for and developed the learning method of Learning by Inventing. He holds a Master’s degree in Education from California State University, San Bernardino and is pursuing a doctorate degree in Mathematics Education at UBC. Jason coached Robotics Team 10029 in 2014 and won the VEX IQ Robotics World Championships in the middle school division. He has been volunteering to teach 3D designing and Lego Mindstorms Robotics at the Richmond Public Library.

VEX® Robotics LEGO® Mindstorms®

The Robokids curriculum follows a philosophy of learning by creating an objective – well-established and supported by our teaching group. Our learning centres offer children age-appropriate programs that are based on creating and commanding robots. Children will have the opportunity to create with robotic design systems from VEX® Robotics, K'NEX Computer Control Set and LEGO® Mindstorms® in Richmond and Coquitlam, West Vancouver, Burnaby, Langley, North Surrey, White Rock and soon Delta.

Immersive Learning through Robotics

Students are challenged in hands-on activities to develop their own innovative solutions. We believe that learning-by-doing promotes creative and critical thinking, which are important to future managers and inventors.

Confidence, Competence & Cooperation

Robokids, in all its locations over BC, is dedicated to helping your children become individuals with confidence, competence, and the ability to cooperate with others. Looking ahead to their future endeavours, Robokids provides opportunities for children to:

  • Expand their creativity
  • Challenge all their possible skills
  • Develop their social and academic potential

Tailored Instruction

Robokids Centre has a 4:1 ratio of students to instructors, which allows instant guidance and instruction when needed. After the assessment session, a unique learning plan will be designed for the student, which includes mechanical design, coding, and public speaking. Carefully designed robotics and coding projects allow students to have time to work on the material alone and share their achievements in an exciting environment. Students are encouraged to troubleshoot problems and correct their errors on their own whenever possible in order to foster self-esteem and an appreciation of learning; students are able to carry these important lessons over to the classroom, competitions, and daily life.
