The course is specifically designed for high school students preparing for science fair competitions, aiming to help them gain a deep understanding of the scientific inquiry process—from project conception to experimental design, data analysis, and presentation techniques. Course content includes topic selection, experimental methods, data processing, results analysis, and skills for presenting projects. Through this course, students will master fundamental scientific research methods, enhance their project’s innovation and scientific rigor, and, through tiered instruction, gain competition experience to boost their competitiveness in various science fairs.

Showcase 8: Grade 8: Spark Competition – Suitable for students new to science fairs. The course introduces fundamental scientific research skills, including project selection, basic experiment design, and data recording. Students will complete an introductory science project in preparation for the Spark Competition.
Showcase 9: Grade 9: BC BIY Competition – For students with foundational scientific knowledge, this course delves into more complex experimental methods and data analysis. Students will learn how to enhance the innovation and scientific rigor of their projects, laying a solid foundation for the BC Youth Innovation Fair (BIY).
Showcase 10: Grade 10: National GWRSF Competition – Designed for experienced students, this course emphasizes independent research and professional presentation skills. Under the guidance of instructors, students will complete a high-level science project to participate in the national GWRSF competition, showcasing their research findings and scientific inquiry skills.
